How To Be Bully Proof

How to Be Free of Bullies

A rise in reports on biting back at bullies

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed a rise in stories about people who got the chance to bite back at someone who had bullied them in the past.

It seems difficult to image this world that various campaigns seem to be fighting towards, in which people bully less.

Firstly, you could dismiss the content of bullying as it’s not going to win any Oscars.

It seems to me that the damaging effect of bullying can be reduced and in so doing, bullying becomes more difficult to carry out when more of their targets learn how to free themselves from the destructive cycle.

Countless reports of real life incidents and fictional film stories follow a similar line, it seems. They never seem to portray a world in which incidents of bullying are reduced. I’ve never read about a school or workplace that have successfully implemented a system in which a reduction of bullying has been shown in their environment.

Surely bullying is part of ancient natural make up to:

* Offload.

* Forestall future problems or threats.

* Increase our status.

* Gain power over others.

People aren’t going to stop doing any of those, it seems, any time soon.

Why can’t we accept bullying as part of the fabric of society and learn ways to not be so effected by it? My suggestion on other parts of this blog is that bullying follows a much more basic pattern then people can imagine. While the nature of the incidence, the size and frequency of occurrence can vary greatly,

Surely looking for similarities is always more useful than looking for variations?

Here is a story which appeared in the press recently: Louisa Manning managed to hit back at her school bully after he asked her out on a date.

    Many people don’t know how to react to bullying. I didn’t for many years until I read “The Laws of Human Nature” by Robert Greene! Thank goodness for that book because it providing empowerment like I’d never felt!

      Thanks Cherie, that definitely sounds like a book I want to read. The one that inspired me was actually semi-fiction, semi-autobiographical Margaret Atwood’s Catseye. Have you read that?

      Thank you again for your comments.
      Best regards

        I haven’t read that yet, but I’m placing it on my To Order list now! Thank you so much for the recommendation!

Ways to Stay Safe From COVID after “Freedom Day”

Luckily, an increasing amount of people are becoming aware that the current government’s focus has never been on public health or putting the nation’s interest first. It has always been on a fiscal agenda. Every decision and action has been on power and money, from the role of Public Health England, which favours pharmacy over […]

Why We Must All Work Together To End Pandemic

Why We Must All Work Together To End Pandemic

In my view, the vaccine roll-out is being carried out in a brash, divisive and careless way. Had clear and effective guidelines and a strategy to prevent sickness, deaths and further transmission been followed, we would be out of this by now. Instead, people are being coerced to have a vaccine instead of being able […]

Keeping Safe from COVID-19 – Can We Vaccinate Against Ignorance?

The Diffusion of Innovation, identified by E. M. Rogers in 1962, showed how new ideas and innovations spread through populations. According to writers such as Malcolm Gladwell, this is what makes the difference between non-starters and fire-starters and is how new trends have spread at least since the Agricultural Revolution. It doesn’t even have to […]

Don’t You Want My Money? Where is the swimwear in the colour, style and size I searched for?

As the sun rises in the sky, days get longer and the chilly wind is replaced by warm air, the seas and oceans around Cornwall call me to their shores. I am running out of swimwear. With rises in online shopping choices due to lockdowns, with Amazon and eBay competing with a wide range of […]

Acceptance is the key

Acceptance is the key

I woke up the morning after a great conversation with one of my best friends and had a thought which struck me. Are people we like the most the people we accept the most? I find my best friends are the ones I enjoy talking to the most, whatever their traits. This requiries choosing our […]
